Simon established Solutions Edge in 2014 having previously worked as Group Treasury Manager & Treasurer at Acal plc, a specialist electronics manufacturer and distributor. Simon was the Treasury Department for Acal, responsible for all aspects of treasury for the group, including finding new long term debt and financing partners for the group supporting its growth strategy. Part of a group of senior execs that joined Acal in 2009 that were responsible for refocusing and transforming the company via acquisition, divestment and organic growth from a loss making generalist to a profitable specialist electronics group.
Prior to Acal, Simon was Assistant Treasurer at Airwave, a PE/Infrastructure Fund backed organisation, responsible for debt and bank relationships, all treasury reporting, the day to day treasury operations, cash, risk and working capital management. Simon previously worked as Assistant Treasurer for Mayne Pharma, where he redomiclied the entire treasury function to London from Melbourne before the company was acquired by Hospira. Prior to Mayne Pharma, Simon worked as Assistant Treasurer for Paladin Resources before to their takeover by Talisman Energy. At Paladin he was responsible for the treasury management of the group, including enacting treasury policy and actioning risk management, and he managed the orderly handover of the treasury function to acquirer. After Paladin Simon took and was a prize winner in his AMCT corporate treasury exams.
Before Paladin Simon worked as Treasury Accountant for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels for 3 years and prior to that the Treasury Analyst at Spirent, and the Treasury Accountant at Tate & Lyle. Prior to Tate & Lyle, Simon worked for two international Merchant Banks in the City of London. Simon is a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA & CGMA) and he holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Studies: Finance.
